Even before a word is on my tongue. Psalm 139:2

Peter went straight to Jesus after being questioned if his teacher pays the temple tax (Matthew 17:24). Jesus asked “What do you think?” before the disciple uttered a word. Jesus speaking first indicates that no thought can be withheld. He knew what Peter was thinking before a word was on his tongue. As Christ followers, we must exercise caution and “take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Our dependence on Christ should be evident in our thoughts.

It is necessary to think before we speak. If our conversations need to be full of grace, we must have graceful thoughts (Colossians 4:6). If you have difficulty taking your thoughts captive, refer to Paul’s comments to the Philippians, “If there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things” (Philippians 4:8).
