For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.
Absent of God we are absolutely awful. Do you look at your sin with sincerity? The sin David committed was immense, to say the least (2 Samuel 11:1-27). However, immediately upon conviction, there was a convincing confession. David recognized the significance of his sin and poured his heart out to God (Psalm 51). David displayed a filial fear in the forgiving love of God. Even though David was forgiven, the consequence of his sin was forever. One night of indiscretion led to a lifetime of painful heartache. If sin is brought to your attention, repent. Never let sin have an opportunity to go deeper within. The consequence is too great.
Pray for a heart that is after God.
