Titus 2:12

Jesus calls His disciples to carry the cross and follow, but there are many worldly snares along the way. To have sufficient self-control, we must be cross-training. The three areas of our Christian life that give us the fortitude to follow are giving, prayer and fasting. Giving stretches our perceived financial capabilities. Prayer gets our hearts raised to God’s level and fasting increases our spiritual strength. As we practice these disciplines, we must do so for the audience of God (Matt. 6:1). Through obedience, God will sculpt us into the image of Jesus and make us fit to follow.
