Set your mind on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2
When Peter heard John exclaim, “It is the Lord!”, he wrapped his outer garment, jumped into the sea and headed straight toward Jesus (John 21:7). Peter was not concerned with earthly things, such as counting the fish. His only objective was meeting Jesus on the shore. Amazingly, just a short time ago, Peter was walking where he was now splashing. Whether he was comfortably walking on water or splashing in complicated waves, Peter’s focus was his Eternal Savior.
We must stay focused on following Jesus to heaven.
Christians cannot follow both heaven and earth together. It takes spiritual conditioning to maintain a heaven mindset. Prayer modifies our mood; it gets us to focus on the eternal. Giving enhances our elasticity; it stretches us beyond our perceived charitable capabilities. Fasting surges our strength; it forces us to focus on spiritual sustenance. If your mind is set on Jesus, spiritual conditioning will be a priority.
Are you thinking about the eternal or the earthly?
