He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.
1 John 1:9
The forgiveness of Jesus is faithful in confession. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out” (Acts 3:19). Confession belongs to repentance and is needed for divine forgiveness. To truly repent we must turn from evil to God. The sight of our sin should bring sorrow. (We are not sorrowful because sin is painful, but because it is sinful.) The sorrow of our sin leads to confession. Genuine confession does not excuse, rationalize, or blame, but takes ownership of our sin.
