Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought to think. Romans 12:3
Christ followers should never think that their profit is a product of self-sufficiency. When the disciples pulled in their massive catch, a few began to count. When they finished at 153, it would have been prideful to think that they caught the massive amount of fish on their own. Instead, the disciples took their catch ashore and gazed at Jesus with utter amazement. “None of the disciples dared ask him, ‘Who are you?’” (John 21:12).
Our path is not for our profit.
Our walk with Christ is a not-for-profit journey. We should never look at our circumstances and think that we have earned earthly treasures or that we are better as a result of our path. “To everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded” (Luke 12:48). Instead of holding tightly, we should open our hands and share our profit.
