Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things.
1 Corinthians 9:25
If you are striving to be obedient to God’s will, you must practice obedience. Self-control is part of the process of faith, not the product. Habits play a role in our visible faith. Flesh habits are those things you do to please yourself. Faith habits are those things you do to please God. We cannot proceed in righteousness if we do not practice actions of righteousness. When we make the practice of giving, prayer and fasting it guarantees a purposeful follow. A person who is active in the church, but absent in the Word fill never finish the race.
Pray to practice obedience in all things.
